STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Duke Memorial Redwood Area Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to help abused, neglected, abandoned, surrendered, and stray animals. We also educate the public on the proper care of animals and promote the spaying and neutering of companion animals. An area's quality of life for pets and their humans is directly related to the caliber of the shelter's work. Thus, the DMRAAS has a direct and major impact on how pets and people interact within Redwood County and Southern Minnesota.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Redwood Area Animal Shelter believes in the unique and reciprocal bond between humans and animals as a vital and positive influence on society. We therefore provide a safe haven for lost and abandoned animals as we execute our commitment to:

(1) find homes for adoptable companion animals

(2) reunite lost pets with their families

(3) promote the practice of spaying/neutering to decrease the number of unwanted pets

(4) educate the community about companion animals and responsible pet care & ownership

(5) promote public safety by housing lost or abandoned animals in a safe shelter

(6) alleviate cruelty and neglect by partnering with local law enforcement.
